Chapter 12
"The Parade"
When Stephanie got up the next morning it was 5:30. “Oh shoot. Chris will be here in an hour!” she said, “I better hurry!” She ran into the bathroom. She got in and out of the shower quickly. Then she blow dried her hair and put on her make-up. Then she went into her room to put on her dress. As she pulled it out of her closet she smelled the sweet aroma of Chris’ cologne that rubbed off on her dress. She then thought about last night while she was putting her dress on. After she got her dress on she had to fix her hair. While she was fixing her hair she heard the door bell ring. “Oh man. He is early.” she said.
Downstairs...
Chris was waiting at the door. It opened and Stephanie’s mom was standing there. “Hi Chris.” Lisa said. “Hi Ms. Lisa. Is Steph ready?” he asked. “Not quite. But you can go up and see.” she replied. “Ok thanks.” Chris said as he headed upstairs. He passed by Matt’s room and heard loud snoring. ‘He thinks I snore!’ Chris laughed to himself. Matt was all cozy and snuggled up in his bed. Chris went and knocked on Steph’s door. “Steph...can I come in?” he asked. “Chris!! Yeah...come on in.” she said. Chris opened the door and went in. “What do you think?” Stephanie asked him and she turned around just as she finished her hair. “Woah!” Chris said as he stared at her. “Is that a good thing?” she laughed. “Oh...yeah!” he said as he approached her and gave her a kiss. “So...ready to go?” she asked. “Yeah...come on.” he replied as he took Stephanie’s hand. She grabbed her crown off her dresser. “Do you have you crown?” she asked him. “Yes. It’s in the car.” he said as they walked down the stairs. “We’re going.” Steph yelled, “Please make sure Matt comes.” “Ok! We’ll be there cheering ya’ll on!” Matt’s mom yelled. “Ok bye. Love ya’ll!” Steph said as she shut the door behind her. They go into Chris’ car and he drove to where the starting of the parade was.
As they drove they talked. “Are the other guys coming?” she asked. “Yeah I called them and they are all coming, as well as their girls.” Chris replied. “Oh...so the snobby Kacey will be there huh.” she said. “Yeah. Sorry. I don’t like her either.” Chris said. “Yeah why does Jesse even like her anyway?” she asked. “He doesn’t.” Chris mumbled to himself. “Huh?” Steph said. “Oh. I said I don’t know.” Chris said not wanting to tell her why Jesse was going out with Kacey. “Ok.” she said. “I still really like Jesse.” “Oh.” Chris said confused. “But I think my heart lied to me when it said he was the one. He’s my friend. I’ve found the guy who I truly belong with now.” she smiled at Chris. He smiled at her. Stephanie really did love Jesse, and still does as a friend. But he wasn’t the one for her, Chris was.
They pulled up to where the starting place was. They got out and found the float. “Oh great they’re here!” a woman yelled, “You guys go on and get up there.” Chris helped Steph on the float and then he got up there. It was decorated with lots of pretty things, and two throne like things for Steph and Chris to sit in. They got up there and sat down. They were talking and kissing when they heard Chris’ cell phone ring. Chris got it out of his pocket. “Hello.” Chris answered. “Hey...are ya’ll there?” Jesse asked. “Hey Jester! Yeah we’re on the float.” Chris replied looking at Stephanie. She smiled at him. “Cool. Well me and the guys will be there in a little while. Frankie is gonna pick up Ashley, Matt, Kayla, Greg, Savannah, me and Kacey.” Jesse said with a boring voice when he said Kacey. “Oh ok! Where are ya’ll gonna be at?” Chris asked. “At the corner of fifth street up on a balcony. You know just in case people notice us.” Jesse said. They guys loved their fans but they wanted to see the parade not sign autographs. “OK...we’ll look for ya’ll!!” Chris said. “Ok, bye!” Jesse said. “C-ya!” Chris said as he hung up. “They are gonna be on fifth street.” Chris said. “Oh ok!” Stephanie replied.
In Frankie’s car...
“Ok...now we still gotta go get Jesse then Kacey right?” Frankie asked Greg. “Uh huh!” Greg replied as he was making out with Savannah. Everyone but Greg and Savannah laughed. They pulled up to Jesse’s house and he got in. They headed to Kacey’s house. They got there and Jesse got out and went to the door. He knocked and waited. Kacey opened the door giggling. “Oh Jesse!” she said. “You ready?” he asked and then he heard a guys voice say who is it. “Oh...no. I’m breaking up with you Jesse. I dumped YOU this time! Bye!” she said as a guy came behind her and picked her up. She slammed the door. Jesse turned around and started jumping up and down and shouting, “Whoo hoo!! She gone forever!! Yes!!!” He went to the van and got in. “So is she coming?” Matt asked. “No...she broke up with me!” Jesse said happily, “We don’t have to worry about her hurting Steph any more!” “All right!” they all yelled as Frankie drove to the parade.
When they got there they went up to the balcony. “Man when is it gonna start?” Jesse asked. “Soon dude! Chill!!” Greg laughed.
Chris was talking to Stephanie when a whistle blew. “Guess that means it’s starting!” Chris said loudly because there was a marching band in front of them playing loudly. “Yeah!” Steph shouted as the float started to move. The float got out on the road. Chris’ arm was around Steph’s arm and they were waving to people and throwing candy. At one time they heard a group of girls scream, “Oh my gosh!!! It’s Chris Trousdale!!!” Stephanie started laughing hysterically. “Hey! I’m loved!” Chris said with a grin. “Yeah! You are!” she said and kissed him on the cheek. They parade continued. They saw Lisa, Sue and the other guys’ families, along with his mom, in a group and Chris threw a bunch of candy to them. They continued down the street and came to where the guys were on the balcony. “Hey guys!” Stephanie yelled and waved. “Catch!!” Chris shouted and threw a handful of candy at them. Stephanie did the same. She and Chris were laughing the whole time they threw it to them. “You almost hit Jesse in the head with a Sugar Daddy!!” Stephanie said to Chris laughing as they turned off of fifth street. “Yeah I know!” Chris laughed. He kissed Stephanie as the float turned the last corner and to the ending place.
They got off the float and went to Chris’ car. They drove to find Frankie’s car to wait for them. While they waited Chris said, “That was fun.” “Yeah!” Stephanie replied as she leaned in and she and Chris kissed. They were kissing when the guys knocked on the window. “What the?” Chris said and turned around to see the guys peering in at Steph and his little make-out session. “Oh my gosh.” Steph laughed. They got out and went over to the guys. “Are you ok Stephanie?” Greg asked. “Yeah...why? she said confused. “Well from what we saw it looked like you couldn’t breath with Chris...you know.” Frankie said laughing. “Ugh!! Guys!!” Chris laughed. “So what are we going to do now?” Ashley asked. “We could all go to lunch.” Kayla said as she wrapped her arms around Matt, “I’m like starving! I didn’t eat breakfast.” “Ok.” they all agreed. “Where are we going to go?” Jesse asked opening the car door. “How about Applebee’s.” Savannah suggested. “Ok.” everyone agreed. “We’ll meet ya’ll there. I have to change.” Stephanie said. “Don’t change. We like you the way you are.” Jesse joked. “Ugh! Jester!” Steph laughed, “Oh yeah, I gotta ask. Where is Kacey?” “Oh! She dumped me!!” Jesse said again cheering. “So you’re happy?” Steph asked. “Uh huh!!” Jesse replied. “Cool. Well see ya’ll in about fifteen minutes.” Chris said. “Bye!” they all said. Frankie and them headed to Applebee’s and Chris and Steph headed to Matt’s house.
Chris pulled up in Matt’s yard and Steph ran in, changed, then ran back out. Chris pulled out and went to his house. He pulled in, got out, went in and changed and then came back.They drove to Applebee's!
